Healthy Changes

Some big changes have happened around here. This little family of mine has taken on healthy eating. And I mean REAL healthy eating. Not low fat or fat free or carb free or sugar free, but real healthy food that fuels the body, fills the belly, AND pleases the palate. I’ve taken on healthy eating before, but I’ve never done it right. Healthy eating used to mean deprivation – I focused on all the things I shouldn’t eat, so I often just didn’t eat and would eventually get so hungry that I’d slip back into unhealthy eating habits. But this time, I’m not just not eating things that I shouldn’t eat, I’m also eating the foods that I should eat. And since I decided to do this, my whole family has to do it whether they like it or not. Because I’m not making two menus or two grocery lists. Ain’t happening. And how can you really stick to healthy eating if you open the pantry and find a bunch of garbage food that you’re trying not to eat? So this is a whole-family change.

Some of the things that I’ve been doing have been cutting out white flour, eating less meat, less processed food, more veggies, whole grains, more fish, and regular eating. No meal skipping. And no chicken breast with broccoli for dinner. I hate chicken breasts. I don’t mind chicken shredded up in food, but I hate chicken breasts. And eating healthy does not mean chicken breasts with a side of vegetables. I’m learning to branch out here and try new things. Heaven knows I’m a super picky eater. Very picky. So when I eat something that is both healthy AND delicious, you’re going to hear all about it. Maybe I’ll even show you some low-quality pictures from my smart phone and a few high-quality ones from my Canon.

I’m convinced that there are all kinds of foods out there that are nutritious and tasty, and I’m going to find them/invent them/borrow them and share them here. Check back for recipes soon!

  1. I am excited to see your journey, I too have been doing it wrong, and break down so many times. So I hope you don't mind me stalking your progress with this for Ideas.
